Soulcrux (est. 2020) is a symphonic metal band from Oslo, Norway. We combine heavy riffing exploring different metal traditions, add in big orchestral arrangements, and a mix of classical and contemporary vocals to deliver something that we hope and believe is unique, exciting and a little different. We tell stories that take our audience on a journey to other lives, places and times.
Our current lineup consists of Kristin Frivold-Davidson (lead vocals), Morgaine Wood (bass guitar and backing vocals), Markus Lappalainen (guitars and orchestration), Toni Grbešić (lead guitar) and Kasia Badura (keyboards). A special quality, and a richness in our group is the diversity of backgrounds. All of us are from different countries and have different forms of musical education. Kristin is classically trained singer from Norway. Morgaine is a true world citizen (mostly) from Bahrain who studied violin and later switched to classical guitar and later to the electric bass through self-education. Markus studied music production and film scoring in the Norwegian private and public schools, but is from Finland. Toni is a fully self-learned guitar hero from Croatia and Kasia has classical and popular music education from her home country in Poland.
Our drums have been performed and recorded by a guest drummers. First Olli Lappalainen, Markus' brother and drummer from a Finnish blackened death metal group Gomorran. Then we have been blessed by drum programming by Denis Leko. Our latest was written and performed by a Serbian friend Milan Jejina aka. Yeqy.
Our music is exclusively mixed and prepared for release by engineer Peter Berg in Lier, Norway.
